Crawlers and AI

Edit the page. Google and the AI get it too.

A phone number is never in just one place. It sits on the page, in the summary Google reads, in the link preview, and in the copy some sites keep for AI. One edit moves all of them, or none.

Benefits

The copies nobody sees, and why they go wrong.

  • Google gets the new answer

Your page carries a hidden summary for search engines, called JSON-LD. It holds things like the business name, phone number and address, and it changes when the page changes.

  • Link previews stay right

Share the page on LinkedIn, WhatsApp or Slack and the title and blurb come from hidden tags, not from the page itself. Those move too.

  • The AI copy is included

Some sites publish a plain-text version of a page for AI assistants, in a file called llms.txt. If yours does, a client edit updates that as well.

  • It stops instead of breaking

A few characters, a quote mark most of all, would break a hidden copy. That edit is refused with a plain reason rather than changed behind the client's back.

How it works

How the copies stay together.

  1. 01

    The copies are found

When your site is first read, every hidden copy that matches the visible wording exactly is tied to the words on the page.

  2. 02

    The client sees one thing

One line to edit, not five. The hidden copies are never shown as separate text to change, so they cannot end up saying something else.

  3. 03

    One edit changes them all

Publishing updates every copy in a single save, or none of them. The page and its hidden copies can never disagree.

  4. 04

    Unsafe edits are refused

If a change would break one of the copies, nothing is written at all and the client is told which one and why.

Use cases

What this actually looks like.

  • A phone number is corrected

The number people see, the one Google reads, and the one an AI assistant picks up.

    Example

A client fixes one digit. The line on the page, the hidden summary Google reads and the copy in llms.txt all change together.

  • The business is renamed

A new name has to reach the headline, the hidden summary and the link preview. Miss one and the old name sits somewhere nobody checks.

  • You sell search results

If rankings are part of what you charge for, the hidden summary drifting away from the page is the one thing a client must not be able to cause.

  • A site written to be found by AI

Sites that publish a copy for AI assistants keep it by hand. An editor that ignores it makes it wrong the first time someone uses it.

FAQ

Crawlers and AI, answered.

No. It keeps the ones your site already has in step with the page. If your site has none of them, an edit works exactly as before and nothing is added.

Stop being the person who updates the phone number.

Give your client the keys to the content. Keep the keys to the code.
